Our Program

Tatertot Maine Coons is a small, in-home TICA (The International Cat Association) registered cattery focused on raising healthy, well-socialized Maine Coons with excellent temperaments and true-to-type structure. We believe responsible breeding starts with thoughtful planning, not volume, and every decision of our program is made with long-term wellbeing of our cats and the breed in mind.
Our breeding cats are health tested, including HCM (echocardiogram), genetic screening (DNA), hip x-rays, and routine veterinary care. Pairings are chosen based on temperament, structure, and genetic compatibility. We prioritize strong foundations over trends and never rush the breeding or rehoming process.
All kittens are raised in our home and integrated into daily life from birth. They receive hands-on socialization, age-appropriate enrichment, and comprehensive veterinary exams to ensure they are confident, healthy, and ready for their new homes. Kittens with us until they are physically and emotionally prepared to transition.
We place our kittens thoughtfully and provide ongoing support to our families, because our responsibility doesn't end at placement - it lasts a lifetime.

About the Breeder

Hi, I'm Jamie - the heart behind Tatertot Maine Coons. My cattery was created out of a deep love for the Maine Coon breed and a commitment to raising cats with exceptional temperaments, strong health, and  the kind of steady confidence that comes from being truly well raised.
Our cats are raised on our small farm, where they grow up immersed in daily life - surrounded by people, animals, routine sounds, and constant interaction. They are not kept separate or treated as inventory; they are beloved members of our household and part of everything we do. I believe this environment plays a huge role in producing well-adjusted, resilient kittens.

Responsible breeding, to me, is rooted in intention, education, and respect for each individual cat. Every litter is carefully planned, raised hands-on, and supported by comprehensive veterinary care and early socialization. Tatertot Maine Coons is not a high-volume program - I choose quality over quantity, transparency over trends, and lifelong responsibility over quick placement.
When you bring home a kitten from Tatertot Maine Coons, you're not just adopting a cat - you're gaining a breeder who remains invested, supportive, and genuinely cares long after your kitten is home.

The Maine Coon:
A Brief Breed History

The Maine Coon is one of the oldest natural cat breeds in North America, with roots tracing back to the rugged farms and coastal towns of New England. Valued for their intelligence, sturdy build, and exceptional hunting ability, these cats were cherished companions long before they ever entered the show ring.
Over time, the Maine Coon became known not only for its impressive size and striking appearance, but also for its gentle, loyal nature. Often referred to as the "gentle giant" of the cat world, the breed is admired for its social personality, dog-like devotion, and adaptability to family life.
Recognized officially in the late 20th century, the Maine Coon has since gained worldwide admiration. Despite their popularity, the heart of the breed remains unchanged - a resilient, affectionate, and intelligent cat with deep ties to its working origins.
At Tatertot Maine Coons, we honor the history by focusing on health, temperament, and preservation of the breed's natural strengths, ensuring each generation reflects the true spirit of the Maine Coon.
